Outshine

When the radiance of the Seer outshines the Seen, how could there be fear or craving? Don't wait for dawn. You are the dawn.

In the previous age, we experienced our thoughts and perceptions as foreground, while Consciousness was background. We were not even aware of Consciousness as the energy-field in whom thoughts and perceptions arise. Now we evolve to a completely new alignment. Consciousness is foreground, thought and perception background.
It is as if we have been focusing only on the passing clouds, and now we become aware of the sky that contains them, transcends them, expands into infinity far beyond them. In fact, the clouds are but fleeting wisps of sky, ever condensing and dissolving. So all the forms of our thought and perception, even the world around us, are but wisps of Consciousness that dance like a mirage in the luminous transparency of the Self.

The world exists so that we may become aware of it, and then become aware of awareness itself, and thus be liberated by the very forms that appeared to overshadow and bind our awareness.
The physicist need not look for a God-particle, but an I-particle, wave-form of his own awareness.
As an object, creation is the refulgence of Consciousness, and exists for the liberation of the subject. Matter appears to be the stuff of the world, but is composed of radiant subjectivity. To see this is to become the infinite light that cannot be overshadowed by the darkness of any finite form. To see this is to become boundless in the play of boundaries, living in the world but not of the world.
This is what Christ meant when he said, "I have overcome the world."

End Violence Now

Gently, effortlessly put an end to violence before it even arises. Taste your true nature, resting in deep meditation each morning and evening. For joy is your true nature, and violence cannot arise from joy.

Parable of the Tavern

One night Jesus, Krishna, Buddha and Mohammad went to a pub.

It was quite an evening. When it was very late, the tavern keeper brought them the bill. They began to argue.

Jesus looked at Krishna and said, "You claim that your pot is always full no matter what gets taken out of it. You pay the bill."

Krishna looked at Buddha and said, "You don't cling to anything because you claim its all emptiness. Why don't you empty your pockets."

Buddha looked at Jesus and said, "You say you'd sacrifice anything for your friends. You could at least pay our tab."

Then all three of them turned to the Prophet and stared at him in silence. "Don't look at me," he said. "I don't drink." They kept staring in silence. "Well all right," he said, "I'll admit I tasted a bit from each bottle, but I didn't swallow."

That did it. A heated argument erupted until the tavern-keeper, who wanted his money, walked over to their table.

"Listen," he said. "The wine is Love. The more you drink the more you share, until your laughter is the Word of God. Therefor, the drunkest one among you should act like it and pay the bill!"

Hearing that, all four emptied their pockets, paying the tab and gratifying the tavern keeper with an enormous tip. Linking arms, they staggered out of the tavern in perfect friendship, singing a song so crazy that no one understood it, though many have tried to write it down.

Points

All points of view are just that - infinitesimal points effervescing and dissolving in clear boundless space. Each has some momentary "truth." What was your point of view last year? Last week? Half an hour ago? What happens to your most passionate political or spiritual point of view when you go to sleep? Are you really just a tiny fleeting dot? Or are you space itself, ever-expanding infinity of pure awareness, where all points dance and dissolve into silence? When more and more of us realize that we are simply this space, a deep Listening will pervade every atom of the earth, and conflict will evaporate in compassion.

The I Particle

The only objective "fact" I can find is that there is no object. The "objective" world is all consciousness. And until consciousness realizes its Self, this mind will be mesmerized by an ever-changing mirage of opinion that it mistakes for "reality."

The world is a kaleidoscope of fleeting images reflecting what is happening inside us, not what is happening out in any realm of objects. When consciousness realizes its Self however, it solidifies into the diamond radiance that outshines matter. This is what Jesus meant when he said, "I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).
The great paradox is that modern science, founded on "objectivity," impels us toward this very vision. Quantum physics reveals that the world is really not made of so-called "matter," but vibrating information, whose only substance is mathematical probability.
This vision is not new, but ancient. Thousands of years ago, the Vedic rishis declared that every apparently material particle is just "gyan-ganu," condensed awareness.

We are not looking for the God-particle. We are looking for the I-particle. And the I-particle consists of that which is looking for it.

Presence Is Power

Yes, I believe in a "Supreme Being." Why? Because I taste Presence.
Presence is power. Presence is the creator. Presence is eternity. Not that God has been present here or there in history, in a holy place or person, a Buddha or a Christ, but that God is always now. And wherever you are fully present, God is.

Hridayam

Of all the phenomena that cynics call "new age" or "touchy feely," simply because they haven't yet had the direct experience, the most concrete, transforming, and real is "the opening of the Heart."
Nothing is more essential for the survival of humanity at this critical moment in history than to awaken the Hridaya-center in our psycho-physical energy field, the Heart. That will transmute lead to gold. That will evolve the planet.

Peace

Peace is not a dream. Violence was the dream.

The Peace revolution will not happen in government or in the streets, in symbolic vigils or incremental acts of legislation. ThePeace revolution will come through an opening of the Heart in hundreds of millions of ordinary citizens, bringing a substantial shift in consciousness and an actual transformation in the energy of the earth.

In the twinkling of an eye, we wake from the nightmare of war, and simply drop the illusion that our problems can ever be solved with weapons or with war. The real peace work is awakening.

Hiranyagarbha: the Golden Egg

"On mighty waters floated the universal egg of the Golden Womb, Hiranyagarbha, which gave birth to the flame of life, the One Spirit of all the Gods." ~Rig Veda (X.121)

And now I tell you this: this golden egg is the center of your soul.

As the Vedic scriptures speak of Hiranyagarbha, the Golden Egg, so many of the world's creation myths contain the image of a primal egg floating on the waters of absolute Being. This egg is floating on the waters before creation. Yet it is floating inside you, now.

This image is even embedded in the Bible's creation story. In Genesis 1, "the Spirit-Breath of God was stirring the deep." The word for "stirring" is a Hebrew root, "rakaf," describing the ruffling movement of a mother bird sitting on its egg in the nest: a very feminine image of the Creator!

This Golden Egg is a very real experience in deep meditation. Hiranyagarbha is made of pure ineffable Light: the Light that knows its Self, and by knowing its Self becomes its Self, and by becoming its Self, generates the being of every creature in the cosmos. This is how the no-local field of Self-reference and Self-awareness creates every localized particle in the universe out of a spaceless timeless singularity.

On the shell of the egg are runes and letters, scriptures made of the same golden Light as the egg they dance on. Light writes on Light in vibrant pulsations of its own purity. This is the pregnancy of the egg, the fertility of light, the sheer exuberance of the void, yearning to express itself in sheer delight. And this script contains all the names of Allah, all the mantras of the Veda, all the letters of the Torah, all the songs of the Forest: the silent Music of Light before creation.

The egg floats as upon a sea of onyx, the divine blackness of the womb of the void. The music of its Light cannot be contained. It shines out in the darkness, singing golden rays into the silence of no-thing. As these streams of light and sound shine from the surface of the Golden Egg, their infinite vibration slows, becomes opaque, mingling with darkness, eventually condensing into atoms of matter. First as sub-nuclear nutrinos and quarks, their energy is so subtle that, even as particles, they remain songs in the heart of Light. These impulses are both wave and particle, both consciousness and matter. They are the roots of both sacred language and physical science. In the luminous aura emanating from the Golden Egg, heaven and earth, subject and object, spirituality and science, are as yet undivided.

As the Music of Light continues to stream forth, its rays coalesce into the elements, the elements into the dust of galaxies and stars, dragon-fly wings, sand, mist, flowers. This is how every plant in the forest contains a song. For the indigenous peoples of the earth need no written scriptures. They can hear the Music of Light in the trees and herbs around them. Walk in the woods, listen to the singing in the Presence of a seed as you hold it your hand. Hear a leaf in the air. Nestle the curves of your flesh among the roots of an old cedar. The singing of this Presence is green energy: what St.Hildegard of Bingen called "the greening power of the Spirit in creation."

The practice of hearing this silent Music of Light is meditation. The song, the divine name, the mantra, may seem like a mere sound at the level of the physical ear. But this sound is just the material pole of a living spectrum, a beam of energy that extends inward, through subtler fields of creation, toward the Golden Egg at creation's source. And this source is nowhere else but the center of your heart.

Let the sound of the mantra, the healing song, carry you effortlessly within inside, by the grace of the Creator who loves you and draws you to Herself. To follow this golden beam of sound inward is the Word of creation in reverse. In Biblical terms, this practice is Tshuva, "Returning." Follow the golden song down into sweet brilliant darkness, the egg, where God is always singing your name before you are born.

Where Is Pope Francis?

Where is Pope Francis? Has he been silenced by the Church? Or have we silenced the part of ourselves that he embodies?

Is white death bleaching the coral reefs? Or have we ceased to nurture the dark abundant waters of our own body?

Does a violent terrorist attack our nation? Or do we see the face of our own anger in the shadows?
Isn't it obvious? Those who feel such a visceral hatred of gay people that they must punish and kill them, really punish that in themselves which they cannot embrace.
Who is Donald Trump? The contraction of the American heart against its own pulse of inevitable expansion.

As for the summer rose, once open, it can never close. Our duty is to boldly savor the beauty of the Possible.

It is time to drown in the fragrance of the great Mother.

Pilgrims to Presence

We who through suffering or grace have learned to drop out of time, to repose in the Kingdom of Presence, may harbor a secret doubt that something is 'wrong' with us. We feel like a different sub-species of humanity, because we just don't process time as well as we process eternity.
For so many lives we've traveled down this linear vector from past to future that we're no longer convinced it takes us anywhere. This is our revolution, our radical action: from now on, we refuse to buy into the hype of linear 'time.'
Looking honestly at the human race, stuck in 'time,' we've noticed how mournfully people are vested in a story out of the past, though the past doesn't actually exist; how anxiously they speed into a story about the future, though it's just the old story repeated ad nauseum. And we've come to realize how, whatever we did in the past that needs forgiveness, forgiveness is always in the now... So we're tempted to drop out of the race as an ultimate act of sanity.
But we wonder if this might be breaking the rules, and those who are caught in the insanity of time might regard us as insane...
At some point though, racing with the human race just becomes so absurd, we have no choice but to give up linearity. We confess that we must ever gracefully circle and fall back into Presence. Maybe its insane, but it feels right. It feels Whole.
It feels like when you were a kid, letting your breath out, sinking to the bottom of the pool, where in deep blue silence you watched swimmers on the surface thrashing by.
We discover that reposing in the present moment isn't the beginning of a new journey, or the end of the old one; it's the beginning-less endless journey to itself, through itself, beyond time, ever birthing, ever complete...
In this repose, many of civilization's old values, handed down through centuries, throttled into school children by grim Sunday school teachers, and later by 'Advanced Placement' courses or SAT prep, just aren't relevant any more. Competition feels ridiculous. No winners to identify with, or to resent. No losers either.
We're finished with a civilization based on winning and losing. When we settle in the valley Presence, which is somehow empty yet abundantly lush, we see in a new way: Those who constantly strive toward 'more' appear quite sad. The contemplative seems to accomplish as much as the activist. The sinner is as close to heaven as the saint. And the PHD has no more actual wisdom than a sweet pea.
A lump of soil is the wealth of nations. A fresh wild mushroom is the feast of kings. If we identify with anybody, it's the broken people, the wounded ones, the minds that have come a little unglued. Because they see everything from the vale of loss that cradles the mountain of wonder.
But there's a catch: the transition is bumpy. And lonely. There's a birth-pang between one way of Being and another. This is where we need to help each another... Because we who are fortunate enough to become fools, and stumble down the misty forest trail into that valley of Presence, may DOUBT OURSELVES. We may waste years in hesitation...
Suspecting that we are crazy, or need Adderall, or maybe - most unforgivable sin of all - we're lazy!, we feel guilty. Other folks knock themselves out trying to 'succeed,' get 'rich,' publish their names in the annals of literature and art. They exhaust themselves just to be remembered for 10 years? 20 years? 40 at the most? Then they dissolve into ashes and smoke... But we go on forever in the present moment, being nothing at all.
So I'm speaking to you who have dropped out of the illusion, who feel culturally estranged because you're no longer striving for the future, who have learned to repose in Presence but secretly believe that something might be 'wrong' with you, and that maybe you ought to feel lonely, when in fact at the core of your being you have caught the wave of eternity, and fallen in love with All-embracing solitude, and are profoundly free...
I would like to tell you what I think, for all its worth, though I am a Nobody too. I think you are the pioneer. You are the Presence of the future. Even when you are by yourself, you are gathered in an interplanetary sat-sang of 24-7 celebration. You are the wellspring of the ocean of Peace that will cover the Earth with waves of beauty.
Namaste!

When You Wake Said The Fool

"When you wake," said the Fool, "sing before thinking."

"That's impossible!" I answered, "I'd need a thought to remind me."

"Not if you fall asleep with the name of the Beloved under your pillow," answered the Fool.

So night after night I lay my head down upon the holy names: Krishna, Jesus, Ha'Shem, Tara, and 99 names of Allah. But when I awoke, I forgot to sing...
Then one evening when the moon was full, I pillowed the whole universe on my heart and cried, "I Am!" All night I went on breathing, "I Am, I Am, I Am..."

Now my waking is a song of light. I am the dawn. Each breath is a synonym for the Lord, whose name is too secret, too voluptyous, to be spoken.

Friend, remember your given name.

Gospel

Nothing is wrong.
You have never not been free.
This is the good news.
Every photon of your flesh
is the boundless sky.
This is the good news.
You lost yourself
in the shadow of beauty
so that beauty might
find you again.
There is no bad news.
Healing comes
from a heartbroken place
where you’ve breathed out
everything you carried.
Stay there.
The next breath
is God’s love.

Waves

"All thy waves and billows have swept over me!" ~Psalm 42:7

We don't get what we search for. We don't even get what we deserve. We get the ocean of God's love every moment of every day. But it comes to us in waves too full of paradox and too big for the tiny cup of this mind. Just accept that every moment is an overwhelming wave of divine Grace, and you will be closer to Truth than any scientist or philosopher.
