Shut Up!

It was so bright today I heard the sun.
She sang to me sweetly, then whispered
"Shut up, Freddy! Stop lecturing yourself.
If you're truly silent for a single second
you'll hear the stars hollering your name,
the sky bellowing blue emptiness,
flowers shouting from riotous gardens,
yellows and corals, umber and fuchsia,
making such a ruckus of delight!
You'll hear a world of honey bees,
one buzz better than philosophy.
Symphony of weeds, violins of thistle,
horns of hollow gourd and cornstalk.
You'll hear the grass green angels blaze
and trumpet to their lady bugs.
Shut up, Freddy! For just an instant
listen: Everything is singing
when your mind is quiet."
