Samyama
Yoga scriptures of Patanjali define "samyama" as the last three "limbs" of yoga combined. This is confusing to many students because it seems like multi-tasking, doing three things at once: "dharana" (one-pointed focus), "dyana" (meditation, dissolving the intellect in the ocean of ananda), and "samadhi" (realizing pure awareness as the essence of creation.) In fact, the experience of samyama is one intuitive act, without effort. It means simply dropping your intention into the bliss of silence.
Do you want to MANIFEST your deepest intention? Then plant your seed of intention in the dark soil of the UN-manifest, and
leave it there, unseen, unknown, unspoken. Only then will your intention germinate, to flower in the
light. Holding onto your intention, or constantly speaking
it, only diminishes its energy, which is much more powerful when left in
the silence of the seed. The womb of nature herself will gestate the seed in her own time, by the grace of her own will, without the interference of your mind and the anxiety of your ego.
So breathe out your intention like
a sigh. Drop it into the furrow between your nipples, beneath your heart,
just above your belly. This is the valley of the shadow of the unmanifest, where the seed of light takes root. In due time, the fruit of the New Earth will
pour out of your heart like a rainbow.
For you are the image of the Creator, and your heart
is the hologram of God's Word. How else would God create the New Earth but
through you? In the Western tradition, we say, "Let go and let God."
In the Vedic tradition this yogic practice is called "samyama." Let go of your intention, drop it in the fallow darkness of the Uncreated, and the Mother will
bear its luminous fruit in a new creation.
This is what Jesus meant in Matthew 6:6, saying, "When you pray, go into your chamber (your heart), close the door (of your senses) and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you in the open."
Friend, just imagine what you could manifest if the seed you planted in the silence of your heart was the very Name of God.
