Quantum Discontinuity & the Miracle of Perception

To create an effect, every cause passes through the realm of the miraculous, which is the realm of the un-created. The miraculous is the discontinuity of the void, the empty space between any two impulses of energy.

A galaxy or a photon, a breath or a seed, one who is dying or one who is being born, must perish and sprout again, perish and sprout again, from this space of discontinuity and re-creation. Your inhalation arises from this space. Spring arises from this space. Your heart beat arises from this space.

Quantum discontinuity evaporates the gossamer threads of necessity that bind action to reaction, cause to effect, melting the karmic mirage into a waveless transparency. This is the space of the shaman who performs miracles of healing or shape-shifting. The shaman breaks the chain of causation, entering the void between this moment and the next.

The dew of causation dissolves, revealing the non-linear reality of clustered radiance, the vastness of the ordinary dancing in exquisitely infinitesimal particles. Upon this dance we superimpose our concepts of cause and effect, and get bound to the karma created by our own mind. But it is only the mind that is enchained in linear conceptual thought, "this causes that, and that causes this." The actual world of energy is neither linear nor bound to the illusion of causation.

Arising from nothing,
matter is just the leisurely play of pure mathematical asymmetry, never resolving in a final equation. The universe is the glory of chaos, humming "Holy, Holy, Holy!"

No more proof of God is required than to behold the snowflake disappearing on my hand, the dust mote passing through a sunbeam, the indelicate smudge of any fleeting singularity. The cosmos is a tiny black eye-floater.

The purpose of it all? That each finite perception might awaken the infinite perceiver in Self-delight.

We are God's feelers, antennae, fingers, nostrils. No, not fallen creatures, but sacred event-fields, each of us a multitude of occasions for Awareness to awaken, over and over again,
in tiny ordinary miracles of sensation.
