Astonishment is a thankless task
and it pays so little
but somebody has to do it
or this green world will harden
with ruthless certainty
into money, politics, and steel.
Dear friend, it is through your eyes,
the glowing breath of your
speechless lips,
and the effortless radiance
around your body
that the work is done.
