Graze

Hug yourself like a sleeping cat. Wake before dawn. Breathe the morning star into your heart, and scent the present moment. Graze slowly on details. Learn from an elk in the meadow, munching clover, tiny daisies. The secret is to fall in love with things unnoticed, neither bought nor sold. Now breathe down to your seed. Be a dangling chain of bells in the music of the wind. If you have wings, use them. If not, don't pretend. Let sap flow through your broken places, where you graft new friends onto the body. Never close your wounds. They become eyes.
