Revelation, Chapter 23

I left my Self and found a world of anger and separation. I returned to my Self and found a world of perfect joy.

Here the voice of Christ whispered to me, but the sound was too subtle to comprehend. So I turned Left to see if he was there. I turned Right to see if he was there. I looked in the constellations above, and in the earth below, but he was not there.

I asked, "Where are you Lord? I long to gaze into your face." And he answered, "
Looking to the Left and Right, above and below, you will not find me. Why did you not look inside yourself? The kingdom of heaven is within you."

So by means of a breath I descended into my own heart. And here, through ineffable golden radiance, I gazed at the face of Christ, as into a crystal mirror, at once clear and empty, yet full of light.

This uncreated light was more solid than a diamond, more substantial than any creature on earth. But to my astonishment, Christ was not alone. A beloved Companion sat beside him, reclining on his chest.

"Who is this?" I asked. "Is this your Holy Spirit? Sophia, the breath of Wisdom? Your Shekinah, who wanders forth, and gathers fruit, and returns? Or Magdalene, your favorite disciple, whom you filled with the hidden teachings of divine love?"

"Those are just names, subtle and sweet,
" he answered, "but names cannot convey the living energy my dearest companion actually IS."

I persisted, imploring, "O Lord of my Heart, if you cannot use names to describe your dearest companion, then reveal the secret through your intimate, most tender silence.”

Then, because I asked, I received. He opened the eye of my heart and showed me the ineffable identity of his most intimate Companion. Then he said, "O dearest Friend, could you not recognize your own soul?"
