Saving the World
When I feel like saving the world, I mind my own business. Minding my own business saves the world from my judgments and opinions. When I mind my own business, I can teach by example rather than preaching, or shouting in the streets. I touch and heal what is right in front of me this very moment. There is no other world, no other moment.
Minding my own business, I am whole. I sink into the ancient well of Being. And
what pours out is my unique Gift. This is not my doing, but the well's
overflowing. And when I give my Gift with all my heart, I don't have time to
list my grievances or blame others for my situation.
We solve no problems at all when we divide ourselves into two opposing parties,
and waste all our energy hating each other. It takes no courage to be on the
"right" side. It takes no courage to judge those on the
"other." What takes courage is being whole, being one’s self. Courage
is seeing only wholeness through the eye of the heart. We heal the world
through the rainbow of our seeing. The revolution is to breathe. The radical
act is Presence.
Share your Gift, and I will share mine. That is how we save the world. No one
in the universe has ever had such a Gift as yours. No one else ever will. Maybe
you feel like a tiny blue forget-me-not, growing among the ruins in an
abandoned lot, bursting into blossom for one brief day. Yet this is your
moment. There is no other moment. Who else can release your pollen, your
fragrance, your fragile beauty? Is anything mightier than your gentle
flowering?
You don’t need to clench your fist. You need to open it. Does opening your hand
require energy, or release energy? Effortless opening empowers you to hold the
moon, the stars, the galaxies in your palm. They are weightless.
If you need a teacher, learn from this wild forget-me-not. The earth floats in
the sky, and the sky floats in a flower, when its petals open. So your
wide-open heart holds the whole creation, and heals the world.
