My Soul Is Your Silence

My soul is your silence.
Therefor I sing.

All creatures are entangled
in this melody,
forests of alder and dogwood,
grains of sand, distant galaxies,
gazes of babies
with unfathomable eyes.

You are the repose
in every motion,
the sanctuary inside
space itself,
the descant in emptiness
where darkness sheathes
bright jewels.
Your wisdom drowns us
in the voice of beauty.
Why do we then not hear it?
Because it flows without words,
gushing out of the furrow,
the ripple in darkness
where the world come from,
and many other things
too lovely, too useless
for the world
until we form them
in the hollows of our body.
I know there is only One,
but God loves mirrors.
Whatever is within the Within
reflects countless faces,
praising the splendor
of your jewel-like name.
All friends met here
before they were born,
and are here now
with Christ in Mary,
an eternal seed.
