Nativity

The most esoteric tantras, secret yogic techniques, arcane asanas, or advanced initiations, often become just candy for the ego. They keep the body well-tempered and the intellect well-occupied, out of mischief, until the heart is opened by Grace. Then we finally grok it: None of these contrivances compare, in world-weaving star-whirling power, to the mothering Shakti that flows through each human inhalation, or the inter-galactic stillness between our heartbeats. We were anointed in the birth canal, and received the highest initiation the moment we took this breath.  That is why the Christ is born in a human body: not to redeem us from ourselves, but to show us who we really are, every cell of flesh a temple of sacred fire. That is why the Avatar comes to walk on our planet: not to point back up toward the sky, but to smother their bare feet in dust, the dust of heaven on earth.
