Bright
It was so bright today, I heard the moon.
She sang to me sweetly, then whispered,
"Shut up, Freddy! Stop lecturing yourself.
If you're truly silent for a single moment
you'll hear the stars hollering your name,
the sky bellowing blue emptiness,
flowers shouting from riotous gardens,
yellow, coral, umber, fuschia,
making such a ruckus of delight!
You'll hear a cosmos of bees,
one buzz better than philosophy.
Symphony of weeds, violins of thistle,
horns of hollow gourd and cornstalk.
You'll hear the last grass-green angels
sparkle and trumpet to their lady bugs.
Listen, Freddy!
Just for a moment.
Everything is singing
when your mind is quiet."
