Creamsicle Meditation
All
you need to do is remember
an old-fashioned Creamsicle.
Close your eyes, taste it and say,
“Mmmmmmm…”
No more pilgrimage to Machu Picchu.
No more chugging droplets of rainbow poison
from the spine of an Amazonian frog.
No need for a selfie in front of the Great Pyramid
or standing with your Druid clan
under Glastonbury Tor.
If you want to meet Mary Magdalene,
you don't have to enter the Grotte de Sainte-Baume,
or stroll the beaches of Provence
searching for her Gospel in an ancient jar.
She is waiting for you in your chest,
between rising and falling, flowing out and in.
Why fly to the ashram in Bangalore?
You'll only meet ten thousand other selves,
waving flash-lit iPhones, chanting electric bhajans,
worshiping a robe, a beard and a pair of sandals.
These journeys are over.
That quest was a dream.
Now it's time Not To Begin.
Stay right here and give yourself a cosmic re-set.
It's like slurping that forgotten golden
creamy citrus treat.
No need to “do” it.
Just listen to three little secrets
that have never been kept….
1. Your body is made of starlight.
2. Your breath is the Mother who whirls everything.
3. Your heartbeat is the name of the Friend.
Now go out and play for the whole afternoon.
That’s how you’ll find your work.
